Demix Agrégats specializes in the production and distribution of granular material for the commercial, industrial and municipal sectors. In Québec, specifications for road base material are governed by the ministère des Transports du Québec. These standards relate to raw material volume density, as well as to the physical and structural properties (strength, shape, cleanness) of the finished product.
Aggregates are also used in the manufacturing of construction material, such as concrete and asphalt.
Aggregates and sand are one of the key components in the concrete manufacturing process. The quality of the granular is of major importance to produce a resistant and durable concrete. Concrete aggregates, when incorporated into the concrete mix, should resist to swelling, cracking, and water infiltration. They should be exempt from contaminated substances which can contribute to the deterioration or loss in strength of the concrete.
Aggregates in the asphalt surface provide the strength, while the oil-based bitumen acts as the binding agent.
