As a result of this announcement, the company’s Mount Royal office will be closed. The decision affects approximately eighty employees at the corporate head office but does not impact the regional headquarters in Longueuil and other Quebec operations which employ more than 1,000 people. All corporate administrative functions will be integrated with the existing offices of the regional headquarters in Concord, Ontario. The move enables St. Lawrence Cement to consolidate corporate administrative services and the majority of its executive team in one location.
“Our decision to relocate our corporate administrative services to the Concord office will allow us to realize significant benefits in efficiency for our internal operations while maintaining our strong presence in Quebec,” explained Philippe Arto, President and CEO of St. Lawrence Cement Group. “Our goals have always been to create value through strong vertical integration with local management, operational excellence and efficient administration and we believe this move supports those goals.”
Once the reorganisation is complete, St. Lawrence Cement will offer some of the affected employees the opportunity to transfer to Concord. Other employees will be offered professional assistance services to help them find a new position as quickly as possible.
